WORK HISTORY:

1997 to 2002: Kern Medical Center, Bakersfield, CA

Word Processing Tech III. Primary responsibility is accounts payable functions for agency nurses and other staff. Other duties include word processing and desktop publishing, primarily of data collection forms, spreadsheets, graphs, organization charts, and project timelines. Expertise in WordPerfect macro programming and user interface customization. Assistance to other software users.

1997: Select Temporary Services, Valencia, CA

Database management. Temporary assignment to Traveling Times Inc. to establish a sales lead and client database.

1986-1997: National Childhood Cancer Foundation, Arcadia, CA

Word Processing and Administrative Assistant. Duties included desktop publishing of study protocols, data collection forms, tables, and organization charts, and creation of simple graphics. Designed and published quarterly newsletter and brochures. Occasionally accessed the Internet. Operated HP ScanJet and OCR software. PC software used includes WordPerfect, Microsoft Word for Windows, Pagemaker, CorelDRAW, Microsoft Excel, Image Assistant, and OmniPage. Trained other users and evaluated software packages. Chair, Contingency Planning Committee.

1984-1986: Word Professionals, Pasadena, CA

Word processing (Xerox 860). Assigned as a temporary to O’Melveny & Myers law firm, Los Angeles.

1974-1975 and 1977-1984: Transamerica Occidental Life, Los Angeles, CA

Methods and Procedures Analyst. Duties included creation of procedures, development of computer programs, development of a classroom training program, and supervision of five employees.

PRIMARY SKILLS:

Eighteen years experience in word processing. Extensive experience in desktop publishing, graphics, spreadsheets, databases, and BASIC programming. Typing speed tested at 80 WPM. Superior writing ability and math skills; CBEST passed with high scores. Engineer ing and drafting background. Able to design attractive newsletters and brochures. Able to learn software from supplied docu menta tion. Some experience with computer hardware installation.

Bachelor of Science Liberal Arts with Literature Concentration, Excelsior College (formerly Regents College of the University of the State of New York), 1996.
